Creative Writing Workshop

April 11 - 12, 2026
John M. Paz ’78 Alumni & Family Center
Dickinson College

Welcome spring with a weekend of writing and workshopping with Prof. Susan Perabo and other alumni writers! We have an exciting new opportunity that offers an opportunity to discuss already drafted work — which you'll submit in advance — and also to generate new work. That latter will be the primary goal — to leave Carlisle with a solid draft in progress that you will complete at home, and then workshop with the group on zoom a few weeks later.

The weekend will include discussions of a short work from each student that will be submitted in advance, a generative free-writing session, group discussions of story ideas, exercises in character development, individual writing time, meals together, and a workshop on Sunday of the work you did Saturday night.

This workshop is open to all Dickinson alumni who have experience writing fiction, whether in the classroom or beyond. It is not intended for beginners, as some knowledge of craft will be expected. That said, it's not necessary that you be an expert!

Registration Details:
$450 per person. The fee includes the cost of the workshop, breakfast and lunch on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday.
The workshop will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 and conclude by noon on Sunday, April 12.
Space is very limited. Please register by Monday, March 16.
